Mt. St. Helens –  Castle Park, WA

This was my favorite place on our trip. The history behind Mt. St. Helens eruption in 1980 is still vivid to me. It is still the deadliest and most economically destructive volcanic event in the history of the United States.  The film and displays they show at Johnston Ridge Observatory were great. To me, the best views of the volcano are along the 2 1/2 mile loop on the Hummocks Trail not far from Johnston Ridge.
